Bloodlines mead novel6/12/2023 Initially I was really nervous when Mead announced a sequel series following a new protagonist. Woo!!! So I finally got a start on the sequel series to Vampire Academy! The book has been sitting on my shelf for a while… But instead of finding safety at Amberwood Prep, Sydney discovers the drama is only just beginning…(description from Goodreads) To avoid a civil war, Sydney is called upon to act as Jill’s guardian and protector, posing as her roommate in the last place anyone would think to look for vampire royalty – a human boarding school in Palm Springs, California. Jill Dragomir – the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir – is in mortal danger, and the Moroi must send her into hiding. When Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, at first she thinks she’s still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. They protect vampire secrets – and human lives. Sydney is an alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of human and vampires. Jessi's Secret Language by Ann M. Martin6/11/2023 Jenner has shown her love for the Mugler brand a number of times in the past. While inside, stars were presented with the new collection, which they could shop, as they enjoyed music by model and DJ Shaun Ross. The gal pals were pictured partying at event, with Kylie giving Stassie a friendly smooch on the cheek at one point. The social media sensation chose delicate glam, wearing shimmery silver shadow, nude lipstick and mascara for the night. Unlike Kylie's voluminous hairstyle, Stassie wore her brunette tresses slicked into a chic bun. Kylie completed the look with sheer black gloves and opted for no accessories. The mother-of-two wore her black tresses parted on the side and cascading down in voluminous loose curls. Marvels kurt busiek alex ross6/11/2023 I think I described it to Tom Brevoort as something like a Tom Clancy thriller, in that there would be multiple threads of story going on, and those threads could come together and split apart again, or maybe never even meet-there could be characters involved in a story that do something important but never meet the other characters in the story, which will very much be the case in the opening storyline, at least.īig stuff can happen in the Marvel Universe, but we usually see it confined largely to the Avengers in AVENGERS, to the FF in FANTASTIC FOUR, and so on. The whole idea of THE MARVELS is to be able to use the whole Marvel Universe-not just all the characters in it, but all the history of it. This is a huge series with seemingly endless possibilities. We caught up with modern Marvel master Mister Busiek himself for a perspicacious primer on the story to come! Featuring Captain America, Spider-Man, the Punisher, the Human Torch, Storm, the Black Cat, the Golden Age Vision, Aero, Iron Man, Thor, and introducing two new characters-all beautifully drawn by Yildiray Cinar in the opening act of a thrilling ongoing series that’ll take us across the Marvel Universe…and beyond. The first issue includes an invasion from orbit, a picnic in Prospect Park, Super Hero sightseeing in Manhattan, the All-Winners Squad in 1947, Reed Richards during his time in military intelligence, cosmic beings beyond space and time-and that’s only for starters.

It ends, as did its predecessor, abruptly and on a leading tone, suggesting a third. Readers don’t need to have read the first book to be caught right up in the engaging melodrama, but they’ll probably want to read it after they’ve finished this one. OhmyGodohmyGodohmyGod.” The glossary at the end will help with the British slang, though most of it is understandable from context. “I didn’t take any chances with the nipple department I wore a bra and a vest. And does she? Readers will fall right in step with Georgia’s up-and-down 14-year-old monologue. Thus is launched Operation Elastic Band, in which Harry the Laugh becomes the red-herring with which she’ll win back the SG. While Georgia tries to make her mother realize that she’ll have to be left behind, further disaster strikes: her new boyfriend the SG (Sex God) decides he’s too old for her and suggests she might try his younger brother’s friend Harry. Her saga continues here as her mother announces that Georgia’s father has found work in New Zealand and they’ll be moving in a week. Readers were first introduced to Georgia’s diary in Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging (A Printz Honor, 2001, not reviewed).

The witches by roald dahl6/10/2023 Our narrator needs to figure out a way to get the Mouse-Maker into the witches' food. The suspense happens before the climax in this book, actually. Suspense REAL WITCHES Aren't in the Kitchen, Luckily Actually, the illustrations help make this even more climactic and exciting. Then everyone in the hotel goes crazy trying to swat them with knives and frying pans. One second they're gobbling up their soup and the next second, they're mice. Climax REAL WITCHES Turn Into Real MiceĪfter our narrator has successfully poured the Mouse-Maker formula into their food, all of the witches start to transform into mice. As if the conflict (i.e., witches want to kill children) wasn't enough, this just makes it even more of a challenge. The Grand High Witch turns our narrator into a mouse, which will make it kind of tough for him to solve the initial problem – not impossible, just tough. This is a life-long complication – literally. Complication REAL WITCHES Turn Our Narrator Into a Mouse Witches existing isn't necessarily a problem. Without this conflict there wouldn't be a problem. The big issue here is that witches like to do away with children (and that's putting it lightly). Our narrator prepares us for a world where witches exist and, to make matters worse, it sure isn't easy to recognize them. In the introduction, we find out that there is such a thing as real witches.

Josef albers colour theory6/10/2023 He teaches you to see this relativity of color through a series of exercises. As Albers says, “This fact makes color the most relative medium in art.” Reds can look cool-toned, and blues can be warm-toned. What looks dull in one context may look bright in another. The way humans perceive color is influenced by the surrounding context of neighboring colors, lighting conditions, size and quantity, what we look at before and after, and more. His central thesis is that there are no absolutes in color. In contrast, Albers’ teaches you how to truly see color. Or as Albers puts it: “Experience teaches that in visual perception there is a discrepancy between physical fact and psychic effect.” Other teaching methods focus on theory, color systems, the physics of color (wavelength, rods and cones, etc.), or resort to rote rules like, “red means danger.” It’s mechanical, mathematical, rules-based, and divorced from how people perceive and react to color. Interaction of Color is, by far, the best book on color I’ve ever read. Exercises from 'Interaction of Color' by Josef Albers
